Read this syllabus and show it to your parents. Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding this class. \nCourse description: Advanced Placement Physics 1 is an algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course that explores topics such as Newtonian mechanics (including rotational motion); work, energy, and power; momentum; oscillations; and fluids. Students will develop scientific critical thinking and reasoning skills. A full course description can be found on the College Board website. \nText and Suggested Materials: \nCollege Physics, Third AP Edition, by Stewart (provided) \n5 Steps to a 5: AP Physics 1: Algebra-based, by Greg Jacobs (recommended) \nScientific Calculator (Calculators with QWERTY keyboards are not allowed.) Three-ring Binder (Suggested dividers: Notes, Practice, Assessments, Labs, ACT) Dry Erase Markers (assorted colors) Four different colored pens or pencils \nLaboratory \n- The number one priority in labs is safety. Horseplay will not be tolerated. \n- Though labs will be completed in pairs or groups, everyone is responsible for his/her own understanding of the lab, which may be assessed. \n- Students who are absent from class on a lab day are responsible for scheduling a make-up time with Mr. Kinney. \nGrading: Fall semester grades for this class were determined by Mr. Bonanno and the CMS administration. Please direct all questions concerning your first semester grade to them. Mr. Kinney will be determining the grades for the spring semester. Students will be graded using total points. Assignments will include class work, homework, quizzes, tests, lab work, and lab reports. \nAbsences: The absentee assignment policy of Rutherford County Schools will be followed. It is the student’s responsibility to complete make up work and submit it in a timely manner. Make up tests and labs must be completed at the scheduled time. \nLate Work: Any assignment submitted late will be subject to a 10% deduction per class period late. \nAP Physics 1 Exam: Wednesday, May 6, 2026, 12 PM. Students are required by law to sit for the AP exam to earn the five extra rigor points for the class.","cbCaidAerM2VlKXC","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaidAerM2VlKXC","pdf",438743,"English","# Course Overview\n# Text and Suggested Materials\n# Laboratory Expectations\n# Grading\n# Absences and Late Work\n# AP Physics 1 Exam","[{\"question\":\"What course topics are covered in AP Physics 1?\",\"answer\":\"The syllabus covers Newtonian mechanics (including rotational motion), work, energy, and power, momentum, oscillations, and fluids.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the lab expectations for students?\",\"answer\":\"Safety is the top priority, horseplay is not tolerated, each student is responsible for understanding the lab even when working in pairs or groups, and absentees must schedule make-up time with Mr. Kinney.\"},{\"question\":\"When is the AP Physics 1 exam and what are the consequences for missing it?\",\"answer\":\"The exam is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 12 PM, and students are required by law to sit for the AP exam to earn the five extra rigor points.\"}]","AP Physics 1 Syllabus - Spring 2026 | PDF",1789895723]
