Emphasis will be given to linear and rotational applications to kinematics, forces, and momentum, as well as energy and power, gravitation, harmonic motion, and introductory electric circuits. Knowledge of geometry, algebra and some trigonometry is required for this course. Laboratory investigations emphasize concepts and inquire in order to develop proficiency in problem solving and in the application of fundamental principles to a wide variety of situations. This course is intended for those students whose career goals include life or earth science, pre-medicine, as well as other fields not directly related to science. Students will prepare for and are encourage to take the AP Physics I exam in May.\u003Cbr>* Ball State University offers 4 college credit hours in PHYC 110 to students who complete this Academy course. These parsed categories are listed below for the fall and spring semesters, respectively. The benefit of assessing and grading in this way is to afford students the opportunity to provide evidence of learning of a concept (such as Kinematics) multiple times and not allow previous, less successful attempts to haunt their final grade for the course. A final grade should reflect what a student KNOWS, independent of their journey to get there.\u003Cbr>Quizzes are practice exams where you will encounter multiple-choice (MC) problems that may appear on one or more exams. | | | | |\n| Fall & Spring Semester Concepts | | | | |\n| | Unit 1: Kinematics | 12% | | |\n| | Unit 2A: Dynamics | 12% | | |\n| | Unit 2B: Circular Motion | 8% | | |\n| | Unit 3: Work & Energy | 20% | | |\n| | Unit 4: Linear Momentum | 12% | | |\n| | Unit 5 & 6: Rotational Motion | 18% | | |\n| | Unit 7: Oscil","cbCaivl7sKeLVo1Q","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivl7sKeLVo1Q","pdf",473753,13,"English","# Course Overview\n## Course Requirements and Specifications\n## Course Content Overview\n# Exam Structure and Mastery Goals\n## Grade Calculation & Scale\n## Course Content & Mastery Goals for Exams\n# Semester Concept Breakdown\n## Fall & Spring Semester Concepts\n# Tentative Semester Schedules\n## Fall 2025 Tentative Schedule\n## Spring 2026 Tentative Schedule","[{\"question\":\"What is the course scope for AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based (PHYS 110/110L)?\",\"answer\":\"The course introduces major physics principles across Newtonian mechanics, oscillations and sound, electricity and magnetism, kinetic theory and thermodynamics, fluids, optics, and modern physics, with emphasis on kinematics, forces, momentum, energy, gravitation, harmonic motion, and introductory electric circuits.\"},{\"question\":\"What prerequisites or co-requisites are required to enroll?\",\"answer\":\"Prerequisite requirements include precalculus and a math placement test score, or instructor permission, or co-requisite enrollment in Academy Precalculus for AP.
