Instead of learning about the locations of physical and political features, this course focuses on the interactions between humans and their environment and between human populations. \nAs a prerequisite to the course, AP Human Geography students are expected to enter class with a basic understanding of the physical and political geography of the world-the locations ofthe continents and oceans, the arrangement of regions, and the locations of certain countries found within each of these regions. \nTo ensure students are adequately prepared for geographic requirements (which is most often included as part ofa middle school geography course), students are tasked, as their summer assignment for AP Human Geography, with being able to identify the locations ofa series of physical and political arrangements in our world. \nTask: Students are to identify, review, and study the locations of these physical and political arrangements and eventually pass an assessment of their knowledge of these arrangements. \nAssignment and Assessments: Students show the completed packet on the first day of school – August 15th, 2023. Students will use the packet to study for various map assessments throughout the year. \nProjective assessment schedule is as follows, with specific dates provided once the unit begins. \nMaps one and two – Unit One Thinking Geographically \nMaps three, eight, and nine – Unit Two Population & Migration Patterns and Processes Map four – Unit Three Cultural Patterns and Processes \nMap five – Unit Four Political Patterns and Processes \nMap six – Unit Five Agriculture and Rural Land Use Patterns and Processes Map seven – Unit Six Cities and urban Land Use Patterns and Processes \nMap ten – Unit Seven Industrial and Economic Development Patterns and Processes \nEach student MUST attain at least the minimum passing score of 70%. Students who score below 70% will be required to retake the exam until the minimum standard is achieved. \nEnjoy your summer and I look forward to meeting all of you at the start of the new school year.
