Kansas, Mo.: Andrews McMeel Publishing, 2007. \nCourse Objective: \nAP European history is a college preparatory course that provides students with a detailed study of European history from the 15th century through modern day. Students taking this course will participate in an academic experience that is equivalent to a freshman/sophomore college history course. In addition to mastering college level content, this course is specifically designed to increase student writing skills and analytical reading skills. \nAP European History focuses on developing students’ abilities to think conceptually about European history from approximately 1450 to the present and apply historical thinking skills as they learn about the past. Five themes of equal importance—interaction of Europe and the world, poverty and prosperity, objective knowledge and subjective visions, states and other institutions of power, and individual and society—provide areas of historical inquiry for investigation throughout the course. These require students to reason historically about continuity and changeover time and make comparisons among various historical developments in different times and places. \nStudents that successfully command the course material may earn college credit by passing the annually administered AP European history exam. However, the individual college or university determines how many, or if, any credits will be granted for the AP exam score. \nCourse Description: \nAccording to the College Board,“The study of European history since 1450 introduces students to cultural, economic, political, and social developments that played a fundamental role in shaping the world in which they live. Without this knowledge, we would lack the context for understanding the development of contemporary institutions, the role of continuity and change in present-day society and politics, and the evolution of current forms of artistic expression and intellectual discourse.” \nIn addition to providing an overview of important events and movements, the goals of AP European History are to develop (a) an understanding of some of the principal themes of European history,(b) an ability to analyze historical evidence and historical interpretation, and (c) an ability to express historical understanding in writing. \nThe AP curriculum challenges students to develop higher-order thinking skills within a rigorous academic context that will mirror those students will face at the college level. Therefore, students are frequently required to read, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate primary and secondary historical sources and interpret them correctly. Students must also be able to comprehend, memorize, and apply facts learned from reading when necessary. \nThese skills will be assessed through a number of tests, quizzes and writing assignments. Tests will be composed of multiple choice questions and thematic essays. Tests will be designed to resemble the types of questions that will appear on the AP European history Exam. Students will very frequently be required to analyze a wide variety of historical documents and demonstrate their learning through various assessments. Students will also learn the Document Based Question (DBQ) writing process and will practice the DBQ numerous times throughout the course. \n***A ful","cbCaisbFJxTycaBg","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaisbFJxTycaBg","pdf",874808,15,"English","# Course Objective\n# Course Description\n## College Board Framework\n# General Course Breakdown\n## Four Units (1450–1648, 1648–1815, 1815–1914, 1914–Present)\n## Major Themes (INT, PP, OS, SP, IS)\n## Historical Thinking Skills\n### Chronological Reasoning\n### Comparison and Contextualization\n# Assessment and Testing","[{\"question\":\"What time period does the AP European History course cover?\",\"answer\":\"The course covers European history from approximately the 15th century (around 1450) through the present.\"},{\"question\":\"What skills and themes are emphasized in the course?\",\"answer\":\"Students focus on historical thinking skills such as continuity and change and comparison, guided by five major themes: interaction of Europe and the world, poverty and prosperity, objective knowledge and subjective visions, states and other institutions of power, and the individual and society.\"},{\"question\":\"How are student learning outcomes assessed?\",\"answer\":\"Assessment includes tests with multiple-choice questions and thematic essays, frequent document analysis, and repeated practice with the Document Based Question (DBQ) writing process.\"}]","AP European History - 2017/2018 Course Syllabus - Semester Overview | PDF",1789900137,38]
