Read through the tips and expectations for the course \n2. Read the honor code and complete the email assignment( I want to get to know you, feel free to ask me a question as well if there is something you would like to know about me) \n3. Make a scratch account (email me your username)and complete 2 of the tutorials. If you find another tutorial you would like to try you may do so, but please email the link to the video when you email me your scratch \nusername. \n4. Watch one of the movies listed on slide 7. You may want to read the prompts first before you choose a movie. Complete the one page paper by answering 2 of the three prompts. \n5. Read Chapter 1 of “Blown to Bits” -Take notes there will be a short quiz on this the first week of school. \n6. Play some games! Play some games and fill in the conditional statements. Please be as descriptive as possible. Conditionals are a vital part of Coding and you will need to understand them fully. You may also venture out and tell me about a loop you see in the game. -YOU ARE NOT CODING AT THIS POINT-you can use what is know as Pseudocode (comments that explain the code) \nTips and Expectations \n★ Be proactive-Read the material before we discuss it in class, and demonstrate your curiosity and engagement regularly during class discussions. \n★ Attend extra help. By clarifying any issues you have early on, you can avoid catastrophe as the material and concepts accumulate. \n★ It is imperative that you have a handle on early material, as it is the foundation for the rest of the course. \n★ Check your school email regularly, and make it a habit to check for grades, assignments, and supplemental material. \n★ Embrace mathematics, logic, and CREATIVITY! \n★ The AP Computer Science Principles Create Performance Task involves a proficient grasp on logical thinking, creative problem-solving, and some mathematics skills are necessary to succeed. \nCollege Board AP Computer Science Principles course information and exam description \nCourse Description \nTask 1: First Email-Introduction and \nHonor Code \nOne of the most important aspects of Computer Science is proper communication. Professionalsin every field including computer science, send and receive a lot of emails. It is not uncommon forme, as a teacher, to send and receive 20 to 40 emails a day. \nFor this class the main form of communication other than face to face communication will be emails. I DO NOT look at any comments left in Canvas, all out of school communication MUST be done through an email. \nHow to write a proper email to an instructor: \nSubject Line: Make it clear and concise. Include the purpose of your email. For example, \"AP CSP Digitizing Business Cards Assignment “ or \"Request for Meeting Appointment\". \nSalutation: Begin your email with a respectful greeting. Use \"Dear Mrs. O’Neil,\" “Good morning” \nPurpose: Clearly state the reason for your email. Whether it's a question about the course material, clarification on an assignment, or requesting a meeting, be direct and specific. \nProvide Context: If necessary, provide background information or context to help me understand your inquiry or request better. Include relevant details but keep it concise. \nBe Polite and Respectful: Use polite language throughout the email. Avoid demanding language and instead, frame your requests as polite inquiries. For example, instead of saying \"I need this information,\" say \"Would it be possible for you to provide this information?\" \nBe Clear and Concise: Keep your email focused and to the point. Avoid unnecessary details or lengthy explanations. If you have multiple questions or topics to discuss, consider bullet pointing these topics or questions. \nClosing: End your email with a polite closing, such as \"Thank you for your time and attention\" or \"I appreciate your assistance.\" \nProofread: Befor","cbCaickvjPLSEDSA","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaickvjPLSEDSA","pdf",1001039,18,"English","# Summer Tasks\n## Tips and Expectations\n## Course Description\n## Task 1: First Email - Introduction and Honor Code","[{\"question\":\"What are the required summer tasks for AP Computer Science Principles?\",\"answer\":\"Students must review course tips and expectations, read the honor code, complete a first email introduction, create a scratch account and complete two tutorials, watch a specified movie and write a one-page paper, and read Chapter 1 of “Blown to Bits” for notes and an upcoming quiz.\"},{\"question\":\"How should students complete the first email introduction and honor code task?\",\"answer\":\"Students must email from their school address to Mrs. O’Neil, include required personal information and paragraphs about computer-related and non-computer interests, list activities and hobbies, explain why they chose the course, share a fear about the course, and state they have read and will comply with the honor code policy.\"},{\"question\":\"Are students expected to code during the summer conditional statements activity?\",\"answer\":\"No—students are instructed that they are not coding at this point.
