Rev.Joseph H.Cavanaugh,C.S.C.Censor Deputatus \nDecember 1,1953 \nDear Subscriber, \nThe present issue of ANIMA is offering some ideas on an im-portant phase of apostolic formation:a service mentality. \nThe Spring issue devoted its pages to the development of leader-ship training which is no doubt a function of apostolic formation. The Summer issue delved into the need of community in education, and what contribution Catholic Action can make toward greatercommunity effort. We are trying to explore areas in which Catho-lic Action, especially student Catholic Action, must work for soundand needed institutional reforms。 \nThe ANIMA NEWSLETTER which should make its appearancein January will be devoted to giving information and factual dataon student services that are already in operation. The function ofANIMA is to open up areas for study and further thought, and thefunction of the NEWSLETTER is to present the current news of thestudent world--campus,national and international. \nThe next issue of ANIMA will be devoted to a study of studentspirituality with an eye to the proper kind of formation to be givenin order to develop truly apostolic people.Again,we wish tosolicit any help that the subscribers to ANIMA can give us by wayof suggested problems or readings or ideas.ANIMA is not a pul-pit--it is a roundtable discussion. The subscribers are the partici-pants,and we hope that they will be heard from often. \nMay I extend on behalf of the editors and board of advisors ourbest wishes for a blessed, holy Christmas and an apostolicallyfruitful New Year. \nWith sincere best wishes,Louis J.Putz,C.S.C.Editor \nCONTENTS \nEDUCATION FOR CHRISTIAN SERVICE \nLetter from the Editor \n\"Behold The Handmaid Of The Lord\" \nLeonce De
