They encouraged Angola’s continued implementation of financial sector and State-Owned Enterprise reforms and adoption of more market-based and transparent energy prices. They also encouraged continued efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve revenue generation and public finance management to underpin the Government’s development and anti-corruption agenda.  \nDirectors acknowledged the authorities’ progress on debt transparency and the constructive and successful negotiations with creditors through the G-20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI) and bilateral efforts to reprofile public debt to ensure its sustainability, particularly the collateralized debt. They inquired about continued efforts to improve transparency and governance of natural resources, especially fuel subsidies reforms, and acknowledged Angola’s recent announcement that the country would join the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.  \nDirectors encouraged the WBG to make strong efforts to mitigate macroeconomic, political and governance risks associated with the operation, and assist Angola in addressing fiduciary challenges. They also highlighted the importance of protecting the poor and vulnerable in the reform process and foster better communication strategies for the reforms.
