aboutthe exact meaning of the word.  \nThe anthropologists of the newer school inEurope some decades since put their attention,too,to this interesting subject,and after longstudies came to the race,the highesttype of humanity,is still found the mostabundant in the middle of Sweden;the homoAlpinus in the Alpine region;and the homoMediterraneus in Spain and Southern Italy:from that circumstance the last races have gottheir names.By far the greater part.of thepopulation of Europe is composed of a mixtureof two of these races or of all the three together.Though there are local exceptions,the fartherone gets away from midden Sweden,the lesserthe addition of blood from the first-called racein the composition of the population gets;and soit is with the other races,the farther
