It’s good tobe reminded of that from time to time and any study of history is bound to bring it up eventually. Knowing the conditions in which a group of people existed can elevate our understanding of their actions and worldview in really profound ways. It can also help to explain behaviours or choices that by modern sensibilities might seem inexplicable. Sometimesit can even raise people in our esteem, seeinghow much theyhad to overcome or how far ahead of their time they really were.  \nIt ’s with these thoughts in mind that we wanted to take another look atthe life of William Shakespeare, or rather we wanted to take a look atthe world in which the Bard lived. What was London like during his lifetime? What was the theatre scene like? Who was operating in similar fields and what were the big news stories of the day that playwrights were reacting to with their work?
