Eliot’s The Waste Land within the broader framework of literary modernism and post–First World War cultural crisis. It examines how Eliot portrays the contemporary city as incoherent, intensifying psychological estrangement while weakening human relationships. Close textual analysis highlights the symbolic force of urban space, especially the Unreal City, where people coexist physically yet remain emotionally and spiritually disconnected. The study also addresses imagery and symbolism of water, dryness, and the wasteland, alongside industrialization and materialism. Finally, it considers mythological and religious allusions to explain the crisis and suggest spiritual renewal through ethical consciousness and restored ancient cultural practices.","Republic of Iraq\nMinistry of Higher Education and Scientific Research\nIslamic University\nCollege of Education\nDepartment of English\nAlienation and Urban Loneliness in T.S. Eliot in the wider framework of the literary modernism and the cultural crisis of the post-First World War Europe. The analysis of the way in which Eliot describes the contemporary city as an incoherent space that exacerbates psychological alienation and undermines human connections is presented. By conducting a close analysis of the text, the paper explores the symbolic aspect of the urban space especially the picture of the Unreal City, in which people live in real space but are emotionally and spiritually remote.\nThe imagery and symbolism, particularly the images of water, dryness, and wasteland, that Eliot employs to depict the spiritual sterility and the cultural decay of the modern civilization are also discussed in the paper. Moreover, the paper focuses on industrialization and materialism impacting human conscience by stating that it is the impersonality of the modern city pace, which leads to the loss of community values and the genuine emotional bonds.\nBesides, the study addresses Eliot employing mythological and religious allusions such as fertility myths, Christian imagery, and the philosophies of Eastern cultures that give a guideline to the understanding of the cultural crisis presented in the poem. All these aspects indicate that although The Waste Land reflects the world","cbCaibpqUtdCLMfQ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibpqUtdCLMfQ","docx",259403,3,1,7,"English","en",105,"# TABLE OF CONTENTS","[{\"question\":\"What does the paper examine in T.
