Players use counters to represent variable values (n) and must select equations, compute final equation values, and cover matching results on a VALUE grid. Turns continue with moving mini-counters, placing counters on satisfied equations, and winning by covering 4 counters in a row. Variations include time-limited play, filling the whole board, and using dice to generate n instead of moving, with example expression choices.",{"@graph":14,"@context":73},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/","Exam",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/algebra-games-solve-the-equation-2-board-game-instructions/633290/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/algebra-games-solve-the-equation-2-board-game-instructions/633290.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Ophelia","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-11-05","2026-10-22",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":55},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",7,{"@type":57,"mainEntity":58},"FAQPage",[59,65,69],{"name":60,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":62},"How do players start the game and set up the mini-grids?","Question",{"text":63,"@type":64},"At the start, 2 small counters are placed on each of the white rectangles on the mini-grids at the top.","Answer",{"name":66,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":67},"What does a player do during their turn when covering an equation?",{"text":68,"@type":64},"The player moves each small counter one or two steps, chooses an equation, uses the value of n to compute the final value, and covers the equation only if the result matches the number on the selected VALUE grid.",{"name":70,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":71},"What are the winning conditions and common reasons for losing a turn?",{"text":72,"@type":64},"Play continues until someone covers 4 counters in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Player 1 then has to choose one of the equations, and use the value of n to workout the final value of the equation. If the final value is equal to the number on the VALUE grid they have selected, they can cover the selected equation with a counter. If the final value does not equal the value on the right mini grid, then they cannot cover it up. \n• The second player now moves each of the mini-counters one or two places along the lines to two new numbers. The second player then works out their new equation value using the new value of n. If the final answer of the equation is equal to the selected number on the VALUE grid, they may place one of their counters on the equation on the board. \n• Play continues until a player manages to cover up 4 counters in a row. \n• If a player cannot go, or gets an answer wrong, then play passes to the next player. \n• The first player that covers up 4 in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally) is the winner! \nVariations \n• Alternative winning strategies: \no Play the game for a set amount of time. Each time a player makes 3 counters in a row, they may remove one of their opponent’s counters from the board. The winner is the player with the most counters on the board at the end of the time. \no Play the game until all the squares on the board have been filled up. The winner is the player with the most counters on the board. \n• Roll a dice to generate the number for n instead of moving the counter along. Example \nIf the n counter was on number 2, and the VALUE counter was on number 5, then you could cover up 2n+1, 3+n or 7-n with a counter. \n| n-1 | 2n | n/2 | n 2-2 |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| n+4 | n-2 | 2n-1 | 3n-5 |\n| 9-n | 3+n | 3n | 10-2n |\n| 2n+1 | n 2 | n+1 | 2n+3 |\n| 2(n-1) | 7-n | (n-1)2 | 8÷n |","cbCaimJDfRFxBZDW","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimJDfRFxBZDW","pdf",214153,"English","# Setup\n## Game play\n## Winning condition\n## Passing turns\n# Variations\n## Alternative winning strategies\n## Dice variation\n## Example equation coverage","[{\"question\":\"How do players start the game and set up the mini-grids?\",\"answer\":\"At the start, 2 small counters are placed on each of the white rectangles on the mini-grids at the top.\"},{\"question\":\"What does a player do during their turn when covering an equation?\",\"answer\":\"The player moves each small counter one or two steps, chooses an equation, uses the value of n to compute the final value, and covers the equation only if the result matches the number on the selected VALUE grid.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the winning conditions and common reasons for losing a turn?\",\"answer\":\"Play continues until someone covers 4 counters in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
