The AP United States History course is designed to provide students with the analytic skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in U.S. history. The program prepares students for intermediate and advanced college courses by making demands upon them equivalent to those made by full-year introductory college courses. Students should learn to assess historical materials—their relevance to a given interpretive problem, reliability, and importance—and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship. An AP United States History course should thus develop the skills necessary to arrive at conclusions on the basis of an informed judgment and to present reasons and evidence clearly and persuasively in essay format. Students will conclude the year with a National Exam from the College Board in May. \nCOURSE OBJECTIVES \nThematic Learning Objectives The thematic learning objectives describe, at a high level, the knowledge colleges expect students to develop in the AP U.S. History course in order to be qualified for credit and placement. In order to help students develop this knowledge, teachers will need to anchor their locally developed AP syllabi in historical content and skills. The learning objectives are grouped into seven themes typically included in college-level U.S. history courses: \n● American and National Identity (NAT) \n● Politics and Power (POL) \n● Work, Exchange, and Technology (WXT) \n● Culture and Society (CUL) \n● Migration and Settlement (MIG) \n● Geography and the Environment (GEO) \n● America in the World (WOR) \nThese themes focus on major historical issue","cbCaiq0MEgzTlydE","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiq0MEgzTlydE","pdf",886125,15,"English","# Course Overview\n## Program Mission and Student Outcomes\n## Course Description\n## Thematic Learning Objectives\n# Assessment and Grading\n## Categories/Methods of Assessment\n## Formative Assessments\n## Summative Assessments\n## Final Examination\n# Policies and Classroom Expectations\n## Classwork and Homework\n## Late Work Policy\n## Disclaimer","[{\"question\":\"What is the APUSH course designed to teach students to do?\",\"answer\":\"Students build analytic skills and factual knowledge to assess historical materials, weigh evidence and interpretations, and present reasons and evidence clearly in essay form.\"},{\"question\":\"How are grades calculated in this syllabus?\",\"answer\":\"Grades use a weighted distribution: 30% formative assessments, 50% summative assessments, and 20% the final examination.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the late work policy for assignments?\",\"answer\":\"Work turned in on time earns full credit; after the prescribed due time but up to the end of that school day earns half credit, up to 6:00 pm earns quarter credit, and after 6:00 pm earns no credit.\"}]","Advanced Placement United States History (APUSH) School Year 2025-2026 | PDF",38]
