The chart below explains which AP exams may be considered for credit.
Some exams can be posted to a student's academic history with no action required from the student. For those that state "no follow-up course is required," they will be added to a student's academic history when official scores are received from the College Board. The process may take up to a week before they appear in the academic history. If the AP credit is not appearing in a student's academic history, notify the Registrar's Office.
For those AP credits that require Wesleyan coursework before credit can be awarded, students must complete the requirement first, then request the credit through their WesPortal (Under "Courses," within the "Placement Scores & Recommendations" link) . Requests will typically be reviewed within 3-4 business days. If all requirements are met, they will be posted to the student's academic history.
A maximum of two credits (AP, IB, credit earned at another institution) earned before matriculation may be counted towards graduation requirements. While a maximum of two credits will be counted toward the Wesleyan degree, there is no limit to the number of AP credits that can be posted to a student's academic history.
Additional information about Advanced Placement credits may be obtained from the Dean's Office or from the relevant department.
NOTE:
• Advanced Placement credits may not be counted toward admission to the major.
• Advanced Placement credits will apply towards "over subscription" in a department.
• Notes in the “special notes” column that restrict AP credit based on taking other Wesleyan coursework is applicable to program requirements within the academic department, not towards general university requirements.

| DEPARTMENT | AP EXAM | SCORE | MAXIMUM
CREDIT(S)
GRANTED | WESLEYAN COURSES REQUIRED FOR CREDIT | SPECIAL NOTE(S) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ANTHROPOLOGY | Human Geography | 5, 4 | 1.00 | No follow-up course is required. | |

| DEPARTMENT | AP EXAM | SCORE | MAXIMUM
CREDIT(S)
GRANTED | WESLEYAN COURSES REQUIRED FOR CREDIT | SPECIAL NOTE(S) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ART & ART
HISTORY | Art History | 5 | 1.00 | Students must take and pass (B+ or better) an art history course at a 200 level or higher (ARHA) . | Credit is not awarded for a score less than 5.(The awarding of AP credit does not exempt a student from any major requirements) . |
| ART & ART
HISTORY | Art Studio | The Art Studio program does not award Advanced Placement Credits for studio work. | | | |

| DEPARTMENT | AP EXAM | SCORE | MAXIMUM
CREDIT(S)
GRANTED | WESLEYAN COURSES REQUIRED FOR CREDIT | SPECIAL NOTE(S) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| BIOLOGY | Biology | 5, 4 | 1.00 | No follow-up course is required. | AP students interested in majoring in BIOL or MB&B should contact the department chair.
