In this ShortCourse you will learn how to create basic artwork and page design. \nObjectives \nAfter completing this course you will be able to: Setup Illustrator documents \nCreate and format objects and shapes Create custom colors and gradients Add and format text \nConvert an image using live trace Save your files in common file formats \nLet’s Get Started! \n􀁸 Please log onto the computer with your eRaider username and password. \n􀁸 (Mac) Open Adobe Illustrator by going to Finder-> Applications-> Double click Adobe Illustrator \n􀁸 (PC) Open Adobe Illustrator by going to Start Menu-> Scroll through applications list-> Click on Adobe Illustrator \n􀁸 The Adobe Illustrator icon looks like this-> \nCREATE A DOCUMENT \n􀁸 Create a new document by going to File> New. \n• To open an existing document, click \"Open\" and navigate to that document. \n􀁸 Select a document profile relevant to the project. \nArtboards \nYou can have multiple artboards (pages) in the same document. For example you can create a logo and design three artboards for a letterhead, envelope and business card all in the same file and workspace. \nWhen creating a new document you can set up the number of artboards, spacing and orientation. Once the document is open, use the Artboard Tool or Document Setup menu to adjust sizes and move the artboards within your workspace. \n􀁸 Select one artboard for this project. You can add more artboards later. \n􀁸 Type in the Width and Heigth dimensions or select a preset size like Letter, Legal or Tabloid. \nBleeds \nFor printed artwork, a bleed means the color/text runs all the way off the edge of the page, with no white border visible. You have to create the document size larger than the actual dimensions of the piece, then cut it to the finished size. \nUse 1/8 in (.125 in) bleed setting. \nTip: Ifa design has a white border, then it has no bleed \nColor Mode \nCMYK: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black. This is the color mode used by professional printers. \nRGB: Red, Green, Blue. This color space is used for items that will be displayed on a computer monitor such as on the web, or presentations. \nResolution \n300 ppi (pixels per inch) for print. \n72 ppi for web or electronic display. \nHELPFUL SHORTCUTS \nUndo CTRL-Z \nZoom In/Out CTRL + or CTRL – \nPan Holding spacebar changes any active tool to the Hand Tool to move around the document. \nCtrl (PC) = Command (Mac) \nAlt (PC) = Option (Mac) \nSHAPE OBJECTS \nAny button on the main toolbar that has a black arrow in the lower right corner has a “flyout menu” like the one pictured below with more tools and options. \nExact shape dimensions-If you need to draw a shape with an exact size, just select the tool, click and release the mouse to open a dialog box. In the window that opens, type the dimensions of the shape you want to create. This feature applies to every shape tool. \nSymmetrical Shapes-By pressing and holding the “Shift” key while you drag your shape, you can draw a perfectly symmetrical shape (i.e. a square or circle) . \n􀁸 Click on the Rectangle Tool \n􀁸 Click and drag on your page to draw a rectangle OR \n􀁸 Click on your page once and enter the dimensions 8 in x 5 in in the pop-up window and click OK. \n􀁸 Click and hold the Rectangle Tool to access the Ellipse Tool. \n􀁸 Hold down the Shift key and draw a perfect circle that will fit inside the rectangle shape. \nSHAPE TOOL OPTIONS \n􀁸 ","cbCaic3rtFV6I75a","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaic3rtFV6I75a","pdf",1859763,21,"English","# Introduction\n# Objectives\n# Get Started\n# Create a Document\n## Artboards\n## Bleeds\n## Color Mode\n## Resolution\n# Helpful Shortcuts\n# Shape Objects\n## Symmetrical Shapes\n## Shape Tool Options\n# Selections\n## Selection Tool\n## Direct Selection Tool\n# Fill & Stroke","[{\"question\":\"How do you create a new Illustrator document and choose a document profile?\",\"answer\":\"Use File \\u003e New to create a new document, and select a document profile relevant to the project.
