Purpose and Legislative Background  \nThis policy responds to ‘Standard 2.2 – Student engagement before enrolment’ of the ‘National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities & Providers of Education & Training to Overseas Students 2018 which states: “The registered provider must have and implement a documented policy and process for assessing whether the overseas student’s English language proficiency, educational qualifications or work experience is sufficient to enable them to enter the course.”  \nThe purpose of the Admissions and Student Selection Policy and Procedure is to provide a broad and flexible framework for the student selection process at Omni College and an efficient and equitable student selection process for applicants.  \n2. Scope  \nThis policy applies to all new students enrolling in a course at Omni College and is to be used by the RTO Manager, Administration Services (or appropriate delegate) when assessing student applications, issuing letters of offer and acceptance Agreement and eCoE’s (Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment) .  \nThe procedure aims at identifying specific processes that, if implemented, may shorten the length of a student’s study period to gain this qualification and/or may reduce the course fee, and/or identify other study or career options for the student. This may include:  \na) National Recognition: This may be granted to those students who have attained recognition by an RTO of an Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualification and/or a Statement of Attainment issued by the same RTO or all other RTOs.  \nb) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): This means an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning and experience (including skills and knowledge obtained through formal and informal learning) to determine the extent to which the individual meets requirements specified in the training product.  \nc) Credit Transfer: This means the process of recognising and awarding credit for prior successful completion of an equivalent unit of competency or module.  \n3. Entry Requirements  \n3.1 Entry requirements differ from course to course .
