He came from God to show us what God is really like. He also came to bring us spiritual life. Without Jesus, our spirits are dead. We have turned away from God. Jesus came to turn us back to God. Wicked men killed Jesus by nailing Him to a wooden cross. But three days later He came alive again. Many people (His followers, disciples) saw Him and He told them, \"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes\", and \"You will go to the ends of the earth and tell people about Me. \" Then Jesus was taken up to Heaven as you see in this picture. One day He will return in just the same way.  \n2  \nThe Holy Spirit Comes with Fire  \nActs 2:1-12  \nTen days a􀀪er Jesus went up to Heaven, all of His followers were together in one house. (This picture shows how the Holy Spirit of God came to them. ) Suddenly there was a noise from the sky like a great wind. The people saw something like flames of fire. It spread out and touched each person and they were all filled with the Spirit of God as Jesus had promised. They received power and were able to speak in other languages.  \n3  \nPeter Preaches to the People  \nActs 2:14-41  \nThose followers of Jesus were in the city of Jerusalem (in Israel) . There were many people in Jerusalem from all over the world. When Jesus' followers received the Spirit of God they spoke to the people in their own languages. They told them about Jesus who had died and risen again. Peter got up and said, \"What you see and hear is the gi􀀪 of the Holy Spirit. Each one of you must turn away from his sins (things which do not please God), and be bap􀀱zed in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven and you will receive the Holy Spirit. \" Many of the people believed Peter. They were bap􀀱zed with water as a sign of cleansing from sin. They received the Holy Spirit too and began to follow the ways of Jesus.  \n4  \nThe Church Family  \nActs 2:42-47  \nThe people, who received God's Spirit, stayed together like a big family. They were called a Church (or Chris􀀱an Church) . They shared their money and possessions and helped those in need. Everyday they praised God and prayed together. The disciples taught them about Jesus. Some􀀱mes they ate bread and drank (wine) together ina special meal. Jesus had commanded His followers to do this. We should do this too if we follow Jesus' Way. The broken bread is to remind us of the body of Jesus which was broken in death as punishment for our sins. The drink (wine) reminds us of the blood of Jesus which was poured out to cleanse us from our sin.  \n5  \nA Crippled Beggar is Healed  \nActs 3:1-16  \nOne day Peter and John went to the House of God (the Temple) topray. At the gate of God's House sat a beggar. He had never been able to walk. He asked Peter and John for money, but Peter said to him, \"I have no money, but I give you what I have, in the name of Jesus Christ, get up and walk!\" Peter took the man by the hand and helped him to get up. At once the man's feet and ankles became strong. He was healed by the power of the Holy Spirit and he believed in the Lord Jesus. He had received a gi􀀪 much be􀀷er than money. He went into God's House walking and leaping and praising God.  \n6  \nPeter and the Woman who Lied  \nActs 5:1-11  \nAnanias and his wife, Sapphira, sold some land. They decided to give all the money to God for His Church. But then they kept back some of God's money for themselves. Ananias brought only part of the money to Peter, but he told Peter it was the full amount. Peter knew that he lied, so he said to Ananias, \"You have not lied to men; you have lied to God!\" Immediately Ananias fell down dead. Some young men carried him out and buried him.
