Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply, with female applicants strongly encouraged.","THE ASEAN CENTRE FOR ENERGY (ACE) INVITES ASEAN NATIONALS TO APPLY FOR THE FOLLOWING VACANCY  \nPROGRAM OFFICER OF  \nUSAID SMART POWER PROGRAM (USAID SPP)  \nBACKGROUND  \nEstablished on 1 January 1999, the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) is an intergovernmental organization within the ASEAN structure that represents the interest of the 10 ASEAN Member States (AMS) in the energy sector. The Centre serves as think tank, catalyst, and knowledge hub within ASEAN by providing relevant information and expertise to ensure the necessary energy policies and program are in harmony with the economic growth and the environmental sustainability of the region.  \nThe ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) is a guiding policy document to advance multilateral energy cooperation and integration towards achieving the goals of ASEAN Economic Community. The strategies of APAEC 2016-2025 Phase II: 2021-2025 is driven by the overall theme of “Enhancing Energy Connectivity and Market Integration in ASEAN to Achieve Energy Security, Accessibility, Affordability and Sustainability for All” and sub-theme “Accelerating Energy Transition2 and Strengthening Energy Resilience through Greater Innovation and Cooperation”. The APAEC consist of seven (7) Program Areas (PA) , namely (i) ASEAN Power Grid, (ii) Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline, (iii) Coal and Clean Coal Technology, (iv) Energy Efficiency and Conservation, (v) Renewable Energy, (vi) Regional Energy Policy and Planning, and (vii) Civilian Nuclear Energy.  \nPart of the efforts to fulfil ACE’s function as a regional center of excellence that builds a coherent, coordinated, focused and robust energy policy agenda and strategy for ASEAN, the APAEC Department leads the development, monitoring, and implementation of APAEC by catalyzing the regional energy cooperation among ASEAN Member States (AMS) as well as facilitating the engagement with Dialogue Partners, International Organizations, and other partners.  \nIn addition, ACE collaborates with USAID Southeast Asia Smart Power Program (SPP) to design a multi-year project for advancing the implementation of APAEC Phase II: 2021-2025 where five (5) of the seven (7) PA: PA (i) , PA (ii) , PA (iv) , PA (v) , and PA (vi) are aligned with the six (6) Tasks of USAID-SPP, namely Task 1: Southeast Asia Power Utility Modernization, Task 2: Energy Efficiency: Southeast Asia’s Energy Security Cornerstone, Task 3: Southeast Asia Energy Innovation and Emerging Trends, Task 4: Southeast Asia Center for Competitive Procurement, Task 5: Southeast Asia Power Trade and Grid Integration, and Task 6: Assess and Optimize Natural Gas System Performance. A Project Management Unit (PMU) of this partnership was also established for managing program activities upon the accomplishment of nine (9) milestones annually.  \nTherefore, ACE is seeking one (1) Program Officer from the ASEAN nations only to support the implementation of this project.
