FourYears of College,1961-65  \nResearch,found that 41 percent of the class of 1965 had received no degrees and that 54.6percent had received bachelor's level degrees.Responses from a random sample of theentire 1961entering freshman classes at 246 colleges and universities were differentiallyweighted to represent the population of all four-year accredited colleges and universities.  \nOver 50 percent of the students indicated they had paid for all college expenses throughparental support amounting to more than 60 percent of the total costs.Of the 44.3 percentwho had either dropped out or transferred from the first college they had entered,63.2percent said they had attended some other college or university since the Fall of 1961 and  \n61.6 percent said they would not have left their initial college if they had had more financialresources.  \nStudents gave the following as major reasons for changing or leaving the college of theirfirst choice:Dissatisfied with initial college choice (26.9 percent);wanted time to recon-sider goals (22.4);changed career plans (21.5);could not afford cost (20.9);marriage (18.0);felt academic record was unsatisfactory (11.1);and tired of being a student(8.8).  \nAt the time of the survey,33.7 percent of the Class of 1965 said they were married andliving with their spouses.Of those married,36.3 percent said they had married after leav-ing college or graduating.  \nWhile only 11.3 percent reported earning $1,000 or more during the summer of 1962,  \n23.5 percent were earning that much during the summer of 1965.  \nAlthough 61 percent claimed that they planned to enroll in graduate or professionalschools,only 21 percent were actually enrolled at the time of the survey.Of the 61 percent,  \n8.6 percent said they would continue their
