The program aims to enhance children's reading abilities by identifying appropriate book levels, motivating them to read more, and facilitating measurable improvements. A key element is the STAR Reading test, a twice-yearly, computer-adaptive assessment that personalizes questions based on individual student performance, providing a ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) range. This range guides students in selecting books within their ideal reading level. New STAR tests are administered each half-term to track progress and enable students to tackle more challenging literature. Following book completion, students take comprehension quizzes, typically consisting of 5-10 multiple-choice questions. A passing score of 70% or higher is required to earn points, which are awarded based on quiz performance. Strict rules govern quiz-taking, emphasizing completion within 24 hours of reading, reading the entire book beforehand, and conducting quizzes individually during school hours in class. The document also highlights important advice for students taking the STAR test, such as allocating at least 20 minutes per test and avoiding guessing to ensure accurate assessment of reading ability.",{"@graph":69,"@context":127},[70,84,106],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":20,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/accelerated-reader-program-information/269073/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/accelerated-reader-program-information/269073.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"Jiven","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-20","2026-09-15",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":105},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",12,{"@type":107,"mainEntity":108},"FAQPage",[109,115,119,123],{"name":110,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":112},"What is the purpose of the Accelerated Reader program?","Question",{"text":113,"@type":114},"The Accelerated Reader program is designed to find books at the right level for a child, encourage them to read more, and improve their reading ability.","Answer",{"name":116,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":117},"How does the STAR Reading test work?",{"text":118,"@type":114},"The STAR Reading test is a computer-based assessment that adapts to each student, selecting different questions based on their performance to measure their reading ability. Essentially, the computer adapts the test to suit your child. \n1) The student must take their time. It is recommended that each child should spend at least 20 minutes on their tests. \n2) Students should not guess answers to questions. This is to ensure the computer is not given a false impression of the student’s reading ability. \n3) Tests are done independently. \n3.2 – 4.6 \nLowest number \nHighest number \nAfter each Star Reading test, children are given a ZPD range, which is two numbers that the pupil uses to choose their next reading book. \nThe lowest number is the lowest level of book the pupil should be choosing. \nThe highest number is the highest level of book the pupil should be choosing. \nA new STAR test takes place every half term, so students can see improvements in their reading ability, but also choose more challenging books. \nThere are usually about 5-10 multiple choice questions on the book. A passing rate of 70% or higher is needed to earn points. \nPoints are based on how well the students does on their reading comprehension quiz. \nHere are some important rules for taking quizzes: \n1) The quiz should take place within 24 hours of finishing the book, if possible. \n2) A student cannot take a quiz until they have read the entire text. \n3) Quizzes must be done individually and are only accessible during school hours. Quizzes should be completed in class.","cbCaiczCyKgFN4oA","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiczCyKgFN4oA","pdf",1560365,13,"English","# Accelerated Reader\n## STAR Reading Test\n## Accelerated Reader Quizzes","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the Accelerated Reader program?\",\"answer\":\"The Accelerated Reader program is designed to find books at the right level for a child, encourage them to read more, and improve their reading ability.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the STAR Reading test work?\",\"answer\":\"The STAR Reading test is a computer-based assessment that adapts to each student, selecting different questions based on their performance to measure their reading ability.
