It may make this money by manufacturing and/or selling goods or services. \nBusiness Transactions \nBusiness transactions occur in all organizations. Usually, these include: \n▪ Purchasing goods and materials. Purchases can be for cash or credit. \n▪ Purchasing services, such as equipment repairs, advertising, and printing. \n▪ Sales. Shop sales are paid immediately in cash. Credit sales are paid for after some time. \n▪ Paying wages and salaries. \n▪ Purchasing non-current assets. \n▪ Raising finance and paying rewards to the suppliers of finance. For example, owners investing or banks’ lending. Business owners expect a share of the profit, while banks expect interest. \n▪ Accounting for and paying tax. \n▪ Bank account transactions. \nTwo statements summarize all transactions at the end of accounting periods: \n▪ Statement of financial position -Assets (owned amounts) and Liabilities (amounts owed) . \n▪ Income statement -Income (such as sales) less expenses (such as rent, wages, electricity, raw materials) . Business retains these. \n▪ Current assets like cash, inventory, or receivables. These are cash or will be cash within a year. \nLiabilities are split into: \n▪ Current liabilities like supplier payments (trade payables) . Liabilities must be settled within 12 months. \n▪ Long-term debt These do not have to be settled for 12 months. \nTypes of Business Documentation \nEach business transaction has its own documentation. The documentation is needed to: \n▪ Control transaction progress. \n▪ Record the transaction. \n▪ Provide a history of how the transaction proceeded. This is sometimes known as a ‘audit trail. \nDocumentation can be internal or external. Many business transactions now use computerized records, so \"documentation\" no longer means paper documents. \nDocuments for Purchase of Goods and Materials \n1. Purchase Requisition \nA warehouse or factory worker who sees that more materials are needed will submit a purchase requisition to the buyer's department. \n2. Purchase Order \nBuyers place a purchase order with the best supplier. \n3.
