This hybrid program uses a combination of online and face-to-face instruction to help prepare students for their certification exam. Upon passing the CPC exam, individuals can become professional medical coders in office settings, including physician and non-physician providers.  \nAccording to the AAPC, students who complete the program will have (2025):  \n• Expertise in assigning accurate CPT®, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM medical codes for diagnoses and procedures.  \n• Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology required to correctly code professional provider services and diagnoses.  \n• Proficiency across a wide range of services, including evaluation and management, anesthesia, surgery, radiology, pathology, and medicine.  \n• A sound knowledge of medical coding guidelines and regulations including compliance and reimbursement – allowing a CPC to better handle issues such as medical necessity, claims denials, bundling issues, and charge capture.  \n• Understanding of how to integrate medical coding and payment policy changes into a practice reimbursement process.  \nThe Certified Professional Coding program is a total of 120 contact hours with students completing an online Fundamentals of Medicine course followed by the in-person AAPC Certified Professional Coding course. Program tuition includes instruction, textbooks, exam vouchers, and study materials. Students can sit for their certification at Pierpont's Testing Center!
