From a young age, Wangari displayed a love for the outdoors and a keen intellect. Despite her parents' initial desire for her to stay home and help, Wangari's brother's persuasion secured her place in school. Her academic prowess led her to study in the United States, where she specialized in botany and plant growth. This period of study also deepened her connection to her homeland and its people. Upon returning to Kenya, Wangari was disheartened to find her country had undergone significant environmental and social degradation. Massive farms had encroached upon the land, women lacked firewood for cooking, and poverty and hunger afflicted the communities. The narrative sets the stage for Wangari's future endeavors to address these issues, inspired by her studies and her love for Kenya. It highlights the importance of education and environmental stewardship through the personal journey of a remarkable individual who grew to care deeply about her community's well-being and future sustainability.",{"@graph":69,"@context":123},[70,84,106],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":10,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/story-novel/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/a-tiny-seed-270837/270837/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/a-tiny-seed-270837/270837.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"Jiven","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-29","2026-09-15",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":105},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",13,{"@type":107,"mainEntity":108},"FAQPage",[109,115,119],{"name":110,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":112},"Who is Wangari and where is she from?","Question",{"text":113,"@type":114},"Wangari is a young girl from a village on the slopes of Mount Kenya in East Africa.","Answer",{"name":116,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":117},"What was Wangari's passion?",{"text":118,"@type":114},"Wangari loved being outside, working in the fields, and learning new things. Her name was Wangari. \nWangari loved being outside. In her family’s food garden she broke up the soil with her spade. She pressed tiny seeds into the warm earth. \nHer favorite time of day was just after sunset. When it got too dark to see the plants, Wangari knew it was time to go home. She would follow the narrow paths through the fields, crossing rivers as she went. \nWangari was a clever child and couldn’t wait to go to school. But her mother and father wanted her to stay and help them at home. When she was seven years old, her big brother persuaded her parents to let her goto school. \nShe liked to learn! Wangari learnt more and more with every book she read. She did so well at school that she was invited to study in the United States of America. Wangari was excited! She wanted to know more about the world. \nAt the American university Wangari learnt many new things. She studied plants and how they grow. And she remembered how she grew: playing games with her brothers in the shade of the trees in the beautiful Kenyan forests. \nThe more she learnt, the more she realized that she loved the people of Kenya. She wanted them to be happy and free . The more she learnt, the more she remembered her African home. \nWhen she had finished her studies, she returned to Kenya. But her country had changed. Huge farms stretched across the land. Women had no wood to make cooking fires . The people were poor and the children were hungry.","cbCaicN2UkjK5TOr","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicN2UkjK5TOr","pdf",1415885,17,"English","# A Tiny Seed\n## Introduction\n## Wangari's Childhood\n## Education and Return to Kenya","[{\"question\":\"Who is Wangari and where is she from?\",\"answer\":\"Wangari is a young girl from a village on the slopes of Mount Kenya in East Africa.\"},{\"question\":\"What was Wangari's passion?\",\"answer\":\"Wangari loved being outside, working in the fields, and learning new things.
