Connects rising energy demand and fossil fuel impacts to environmental risks and motivates sustainable technology adoption. Summarizes leading models and methods, with emphasis on agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and textile, and presents an agriculture section grounded in energy and emissions drivers.","# A Review of Measurement of EnergyFootprints Across Different IndustrialSectors\n\nPradeep Kautish,Mujahid Siddiqui,Nirzar Kulkarni, and Aaliyah Siddiqui \n## 1 Introduction\n\nEnergy footprint, which is often measured using inventory data under the life cycleapproach, tracks the overall energy usage of the item under consideration, such asproduct manufacturing, processes, organizational outputs, household activities, orregional connotations. It does this by monitoring the influence of human energyactivities. The definitions that currently exist can be broadly classified into twogroups:mass driven and land driven, according to their relevance and usage pat-terns.Yet,there is no universally acceptable definition of energy footprint (Panet al.,2024).Energy is considered one of the key components associated with theproduction and industrial activities and thus has a direct impact on the economicdevelopment. The human dependence on energy for almost all developmental activ-ities is inevitable, and as economic activities continue to thrive, the demand forenergy shall continue to rise(Payab et al.,2023).As the economic activities con-tinue to rise, the ill effects of energy produced from the fossilized sources havebegun to surface. One of the foremost adverse effects of energy consumption pat-terns is in the form of global warming, which has been directly attributed to theburning of fossil and non-fossil fuels (Siddiqui et al.,2023b).The usage of energyfor different industrial sectors shall continue to grow, and this cycle of growth andits negative consequences for the environment shall continue to pose an even moreserious threat to the existence of planet Earth. It is,therefore, felt that the adoption \nof sustainable technologies shall be an effective method for decreasing the energyfootprints generated by several industrial sectors(Shahbaz et al.,2023). \nAs a first step in the direction of shifting to cleaner energy,it is imperative toidentify the industrial sectors which have a greater contribution toward the energyfootprints.Once the identification and assessments are done, this can help in theinitiation of measures that can assist in reducing the energy footprints(Karamouzet al.,2022;Muthu,2020b).This emphasizes the need to develop models and toolsfor the assessment of the energy footprints across different industrial sectors of theeconomy. These frameworks shall help in the identification of the processes,prod-ucts,industries,regions,etc.,that are the dominant forces generating higher energyfootprints. This can help either prevent or find substitutes for these sources and cre-ate a much cleaner industrial environment. There have been concerted efforts byresearchers, scientists, and professionals from the industry to develop tools andmethods which can help in the measurement of energy footprints for various indus-trial sectors(Hren et al.,2023;Siddiqui et al.,2022;Sowby &Dicataldo,2022;Xieet al.,2020).Energy footprints are environmental footprints that concentrate on justone environmental issue, namely, energy usage, similar to the carbon footprints. Therefore, the evaluation of the energy use associated with a designated product, organization,or region within a given temporal and spatial boundary is known as anenergy footprint. Most techniques calculate this using a life cycle perspective for thepurpose of calculating the energy footprints(Al-Mulali&Ozturk,2015;Fasogbon&Igboabuchukwu,2024;Pandey &Agrawal,2014). \nThis review is an attempt to identify the leading models and methods for themeasurement of energy footprints across different industrial sectors. In doing so,wehelp in creating an updated knowledge base for understanding the current develop-ment in the field of assessment of energy footprint. This can also be of interest toscholars and professionals in different industrial sectors to identify the scope ofdevelopment of these methods in order to improve the current models and methods. This review attempts to identify the models used in the four large indu","cbCaibThiYkoJdyu","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibThiYkoJdyu","pdf",1819026,3,1,17,"English","en",105,"# 1 Introduction\n## Energy footprint
