It poses a high risk of cancerassociated thrombosis. \nCase presentation: A 73-year-old male presented with fatigue, shortness of breath, weight loss since 9 months, and blood clots recently in his legs. Chest radiography revealed fluid accumulation in pleural and pericardial cavities. Later, a fluid examination revealed the presence of malignant cells in the pericardial fluid. After immunological tests and an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy were performed, a pancreatic tumour was suspected. The patient was administered anticoagulant treatment and palliative care, which resulted in improvement after one month. \nDiscussion: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is a highly aggressive cancer with a strong tendency to metastasize, leading to pericardialand pleural effusion, thrombophlebitis, and poor prognosis. \nConclusion: This case indicates that venous thrombosis, pleural and pericardial effusions could be symptoms related to a pancreatic tumour. \nKeywords: case report, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, pericardial effusions, pleural effusions, venous thrombosis \nIntroduction \nPancreatic cancer, which accounts for only 2% of all cancers, isone of the deadliest types of cancers, causing 5% of cancerrelated deaths. During the development and progression of pancreatic cancer, most patients do not experience any symptoms until they develop metastasis. The most common type of pancreatic cancer is pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC)[1] . \nThe symptoms of PDAC can vary and include weight loss, abdominal pain, jaundice, and anorexia. Patients with pancreatic cancer may experience gastrointestinal bleeding as a complication[2] . \nMalignancy of the pancreas is a well-known cause of clinically significant vascular thrombosis. This can lead to a 7–28 times higher risk of venous thromboembolism across all types of cancers. Pancreatic cancer is one of the malignancies that poses the highest risk of cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) among all \n[3] \ncancers . \naUniversity of Aleppo, Faculty of Medicine and bDepartment of Pulmonology, Aleppo \nUniversity Hospital, University of Aleppo, Faculty of Medicine, Aleppo, Syria Sponsorships or competing interests that maybe relevant to content are disclosed atthe end of this article. \n*Corresponding author. These findings are rare to present together and tobe representative of a pancreatic cancer. \nCase","cbCaia1ZTcjw6Wg5","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaia1ZTcjw6Wg5","pdf",378910,"English","# Introduction\n# Case presentation\n# Discussion\n# Conclusion\n# Highlights","[{\"question\":\"What symptoms were reported in the 73-year-old patient before the diagnosis was suspected?\",\"answer\":\"He had fatigue, shortness of breath, and weight loss over nine months, with recent blood clots in his legs.\"},{\"question\":\"How were pleural and pericardial effusions evaluated in this case?\",\"answer\":\"Chest imaging showed pleural and pericardial fluid, both were drained, and pathology revealed malignant cells in the pericardial fluid while pleural fluid was negative.\"},{\"question\":\"What was the treatment approach and what outcome was reported after one month?\",\"answer\":\"The patient received anticoagulant treatment and palliative care, resulting in improvement after one month.\"}]","A rare case of pancreatic adenocarcinoma accompanied by venous thrombosis, pleural and pericardial effusions | PDF",1789988552]
