Feel free to share with friends and family. Where possible, I have credited the original source of the recipe. \nI put these recipes together into a week-long meal plan for use by our family after our fourth baby was born. I quadrupled all of my recipes so we had four weeks’ worth of meals. \nIncluded in this plan are: \n􀁸 The recipes \n􀁸 My notes on the recipes \n􀁸 Breakfast suggestions \n􀁸 Snack suggestions \n􀁸 An agenda for “freezer cooking week” \n􀁸 Reprinted blog post detailing my experience working through this plan \n􀁸 Directions for thawing and preparing each recipe \n􀁸 Menu plan chart showing each recipe, side dishes, and shopping list summary \nKristen S. Burgess \n[http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com](http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com) \nThe Supper Recipes \nSpaghetti \n􀁸 1lb ground beef \n􀁸 1 big can tomatoes \n􀁸 2 cans tomato paste \n􀁸 Red cooking wine \n􀁸 onions, diced and sautéed \n􀁸 garlic \n􀁸 Your favorite spices \nBrown the ground beef. Leave a little pink in the beef – it will finish cooking when you re-heat it and slightly undercooking helps avoid a “freezer” taste. Mix in all ingredients, cook for 15-30 min. Freeze! \nKristen’s Notes: Spaghetti is always a favorite around my house. It’s also very easy to prepare. My spaghetti recipe base comes from Nourishing Traditions. My family loves the hearty spaghetti recipe. Use garlic and oregano with a little rosemary, thyme, and basil if you don’t have your own favorite spaghetti spices. \nOur spaghetti was served over noodles (cook these up when you reheat your sauce; you can get rice noodles if your family has wheat/gluten intolerance) . I also steamed frozen broccoli to go with this meal. I shopped for the broccoli and the noodles before our baby came so they were right there waiting after! \nHearty Beef Soup \n􀁸 2 beef shanks (about 1 pound each) \n􀁸 4 tablespoons olive oil \n􀁸 3 quarts filtered water \n􀁸 1 pounds carrots, peeled \n􀁸 1 pounds potatoes, washed ** \n􀁸 1/2lb onions, peeled \n􀁸 1 large can crushed tomatoes \n􀁸 3/4 cup balsamic vinegar \n􀁸 3 bay leaves \n􀁸 4 tablespoons green peppercorns \n􀁸 1 tablespoon coarse black pepper \n􀁸 3 tablespoons fresh garlic, chopped \n􀁸 1 cup fresh parsley, chopped \n􀁸 sea salt to taste \nPat shanks dry and sprinkle with black pepper. In a heavy-bottomed, non-aluminum stockpot, heat half the oil. Sear the shanks on both sides until brown. Add water, vinegar, tomatoes, bay leaves and peppercorns. \nSimmer for 4 hours or until beef is flaky tender. Remove meat and bones from the stock and allow cooling. \nReturn stock to a simmer and skim debris from the top of the liquid. Separate the meat from bones and gristle. Cut potatoes and carrots into bite-sized pieces and add to stock along with the garlic. Quarter the shallots or onions, toss them in the remaining oil, roast or sauté until brown and add to stock. When the vegetables are tender, add meat, chopped parsley and salt to taste. \nKristen’s Notes: This is, hands down, one of my family’s favorite recipes. The soup is rich, flavorful, filling, and seemingly endless – what more could you ask for? It originally came from a Weston A. Price Foundation conference. Beef shanks are cuts of beef shank bone with a good portion of meat still surrounding them. They weigh around 1 pound each. Substitute any stew beef cut you’d like. \n** Buy your potatoes and store them – don’t add them to the soup yet. Chop and add your potatoes after you’ve thawed the soup and are reheating it! I served this with a salad on the side. Buy bagged salads postpartum if it’s easier for you. \nEasy and Delicious Chicken \n􀁸 4 ounces apple cider vinegar \n􀁸 8 ounces olive oil \n􀁸 a few shakes basil \n􀁸 a few shakes dried onion \n􀁸 a few shakes thyme \n􀁸 2 tablespoons garlic (I love garlic) \n􀁸 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves \n􀁸 10 ounces heavy cream \n􀁸 1 1/2 cups chicken bro","cbCaitGZ8hpRSMLT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitGZ8hpRSMLT","pdf",1323636,24,"English","# The Supper Recipes\n## Spaghetti\n## Hearty Beef Soup\n## Easy and Delicious Chicken\n## Mom's Vegetable Soup","[{\"question\":\"What does the postpartum freezer meal plan include besides the recipes?\",\"answer\":\"It includes the recipes plus the author’s notes, breakfast and snack suggestions, an agenda for freezer cooking week, directions for thawing and preparing each recipe, and a menu plan chart with shopping list summary.\"},{\"question\":\"How are recipes intended to be used after cooking and freezing?\",\"answer\":\"The plan is designed to freeze the meals and then thaw and prepare them later, with specific directions for reheating each recipe so the food finishes cooking properly.\"},{\"question\":\"Which dish is described as suitable for a slow cooker and fussy baby days?\",\"answer\":\"The document’s “Easy and Delicious Chicken” recipe is presented as easy, works well frozen, and is recommended for days when making a fancy meal is difficult.\"}]","A Postpartum Freezer Meal Plan - Freezer cooking week | PDF",1790550570]
