Some were secrets and some were known by everyone and everyone has written about them and will doubtless write more. \nThere is no mention ofthe Stade Anastasie where the boxers served as waiters at the tables set out under the trees and the ring was in the garden . Nor oftraining with Larry Gains , nor the great twenty-round fights at the Cirque d ’Hiver. Nor of such good friends as Charlie Sweeney, Bill Bird and Mike Strater, nor ofAndré Masson and Miro . There is no mention of our voyages to the Black Forest or of our one-day explorations ofthe forests that we loved around Paris . It would be fine if all these were in this book but we will have to do without them for now. \nIf the reader prefers , this book may be regarded as fiction . But there is always the chance that such a book of fiction may throw some light on what has been written as fact. \nErnest Hemingway \nSan Francisco de Paula, Cuba 1960 \nNote \nErnest started writing this book in Cuba in the autumn of 1957, worked on it in Ketchum, Idaho, in the winter of 1958-59, took it with him to Spain when we went there in April, 1959, and brought it back with him to Cuba and then to Ketchum late th","cbCaiv9NHFXjHACL","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiv9NHFXjHACL","pdf",2037471,96,"English","# Preface\n# Note\n# A Good Café on the Place St.-Michel\n# Miss Stein Instructs\n# “Une Génération Perdue”\n# Shakespeare and Company\n# People of the Seine\n# A False Spring\n# The End of an Avocation\n# Hunger Was Good Discipline\n# Ford Madox Ford and the Devils’ Disciple\n# Birth of a New School\n# With Pascin at the Dôme\n# Ezra Pound and His Bel Esprit\n# A Strange Enough Ending\n# The Man Who Was Marked for Death\n# Evan Shipman at the Lilas\n# An Agent of Evil\n# Scott Fitzgerald\n# Hawks Do Not Share\n# A Matter of Measurements\n# There Is Never Any End to Paris","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the Preface in A Moveable Feast?\",\"answer\":\"The Preface explains that many places, people, and observations were left out, some were secrets, and others were well known.
