ashamed.So he sought to make intercessorswho would receive him into their homes.Thishe did by calling in everyone who owed hismaster anything,and reducing the debts byfifty percent or more.Our Lord did not com-mend the steward for this injustice,but hecommended him for his foresight,in the sensethat he used wealth to make friends.Our Lordsaid:\"The children of this world are moreprudent after their own fashion than the chil-dren of the light.\"(Luke,16:18)This meansthat the worldly people know how to win friendsand influence people much better than souls inthe Church know how to win intercessors inthe Kingdom of Heaven.  \n● Our Lord suggested that we ought to makefriends through money which He calls,\"Mam-mon of Iniquity,\"so that when we fail,thatis when we die,those whom we helped may  \nreceive us into everlasting dwellings.The paganswe help to feed in body and enlighten withfaith,become our intercessors in the King-dom of Heaven.As the unjust steward madefriends in time,so by exchanging our wealth,we make friends for eternity.This idea ofintercession is an extremely Catholic idea,butit has been lost sight of in drives,appeals,campaigns,and it is well to revive it in orderthat the true Christian spirit may not be lost.  \n● The implication is that the unfortunate havea special power of pleading before the Throneof God and an influence sometimes which eventhe good lack.  \n● Whence comes this power?It stems in partfrom their misfortune,because they.have beendenied the happy lot of other men.Since heavenbelieves in equality,their misery needs to beequalized.There is a suggestion of this in.theparable of Dives and Lazarus,where God tellsthe rich man that he has had the pleasures inthis life,but Lazarus,the beggar,had none.NowLazarus has the joys and the rich man is withoutthem.Our Lord added that He would say tothe rich on the Last Day:\"You have alreadyhad your reward.”  \n● It is very likely therefore,that the uglypeople who love God will be particularly beau-  \ntiful in heaven;the orphans and waifs will bethe objects of special warmth of affection;andthe poor will have some of the more beautifulmansions of the Father's House.  \n● But there is a deeper reason for their inter-cessary power.Christ is in them.\"I was hungryand you gave me food,thirsty and you gave medrink;I was a stranger and you brought mehome,naked,and you clothed me,sick,and youcared for me,a prisoner and you came to me.\"(Matt.25:35-36)  \nOur aim in the missions is not just to getmoney to give to the Holy Father.Our aim isto glorify God.This we know can be done inthe following ways:  \n1.By inducing you to make a sacrifice for thespread of the Church in foreign lands.  \n2.Do it for the supernatural reason of increasinggrace in your souls and in
