The papered-over windows of that empty storefront across the way and three doors over from Henderson’s Hardware mocked me with their secrets—secrets that Nellie Pritchett had apparently known for months. A coffee and cocktail bar. The Still & Bean. The name alone made me want to throw perfectly good coffee beans at their door.  \nBoom!  \nThud!  \nThe sound of Hazel’s baking/morning mess-making from the kitchenshook me from my ruminating.  \n“All good! Nothing broken …um …” She poked her head out from the kitchen and said, “Actually, Parker, I might need your assistance.” Her platinum-blonde bob caught the early morning light streaming through the windows, a bright spot against the drizzly gray morning.
