\nContributions reported in 1958 by forty-nine Protestant and Orthodox com-munions totaled $2,352,159,290.Gifts for benevolences --home and foreignmissions and overseas relief--amounted to $473,911,895.This was 20.2percent of the total,slightly above the percentage of the whole in 1957.  \nThese figures were announced by the Rev.T.K.Thompson,executivedirector of the Department of Methodists,$145.41;The Evangelical Mennonite Church,$82.80;Evangelical Free Church of America,$71.49;Brethren in Christ,$51.45.  \n1958 figures on contributions in six Canadian church groups showed totalgiving was $101,099,963.Gifts for benevolences were 19.1 percent of thetotal.  \nThe total membership of the forty-nine church bodies included in the reportis 37,528,592.The fifty-one denominations that reported in 1957 had atotal membership of 37,013,368.  \nThe statistics on giving for foreign mission work alone are divided into twocategories.Forty-six of the forty-nine bodies in the current report gave atotal of $86,944,184 for overseas missionary work.The total for the fortycommunions which reported in 1957 and 1958is $84,492,407.The per mem-ber figure for this same group is
