paperthat he called a'memorandum”for the Bishops attending the SecondVatican Council in 1963.Rocca diPapa had open house”all during thecouncil months but November 16th and17th were set aside as visiting daysfor the English-speaking Bishops.  \nThe Bishops are all concerned withthe solution of the complex problemsof their respective dioceses.Theyrealize that no imposing book of de-crees is going to be of any avail if themembers of the Church continue to re-main cold.The crying need is for morefervor and sanctity rather than a multi-  \na.The Second Vatican Council hasexamined the entire situation of theChurch.It has found its pastoral spirit·admirable.While stressing always theimportance of doctrinal matters it hasalso been preoccupied with the prob-lem of a life to be nourished and in-  \nIn the memorandum Father Lombardifirst stressed the importance of thepost-Council period for the implemen-tation of the Council decisions andrecommendations.He considers theministry of the world extremely vitaland the formation of groups of men tocarry on this type of missionary actionequally so.With the Pontiff as leaderof the Christian crusade the bishopshave the responsibility of carrying themovement into their own fields andthere using all available resources toattain the goal.Father specified theMOVEMENT FOR A BETTER WORLDas one form of the new and world-wideapostolate to preach a renewed fervorin the Church.The promoters of theMovement are small groups of priests(of many societies)working in con-junction with Sisters and lay men andwomen-in the spirit of early aposto-lic times.By potent work and evenmore potent example they present aspectacle of true fraternal charity inunity for the good of the whole Church.  \nFather Giuseppe Piantoni and Father Lombardi
