Even those that are booing you don’t take away from the rush. I’ve been playing football since I was 5 years old, and I fell in love with the sport. This year, I am the starting quarterback for my college team, the Canton U Tigers. We’re a division 1 team and favored to win the National Championship this year , all because I’m taking over as QB1. It’s the start of my junior year, and last year we made it to the finals but couldn’t pull it off. This year, that’s not happening. We will be National Champions; I won’t accept anything else. Distractions are not something I’m going to allow myself; my focus must be on my team and this season. Getting to the NFL has always been the dream. Once I graduate, I plan to enter the draft, so I have 2 seasons left to show my worth; nothing is worth losing my focus over. I want this so bad I can taste it. Getting to the NFL would change my life and my mom’s life, forever. I love my mom, it’s always been her and me, she sacrificed everything for me and for my love of football, so losing focus and not being able to pay her back after everything she gave up for me is simply not an option.  \nCanton is a small town in Texas, not far from Dallas, and I picked this school because the town lives and breathes football, just like me . Some amazing players have gone to this school and gone on to the NFL, so I know my chances are good. Scouts were at a lot of our games last year and would talk to coach about me and my best friend Carter, even though I was a backup the last 2 seasons, the plays I have made spoke volumes about my ability as a quarterback and leader. Carter ’s one of my wide receivers and is the best wide receiver in college football and has been my best friend since we were babies since our moms are best friends. I would love nothing more than Carter and I to be drafted to the same team in the NFL, just like we were awarded scholarships to the same school but I’m aware the chances of  \nthat happening aren’t high. I’ll be happy for him no matter where he ends up though and playing against him would be fun for a change.  \nClasses started this week, and we had training camp over summer. This week we have a preseason game out of town, and I want our team to be undefeated this season, whether it’s preseason or not. It’s possible but everyone must put in the work. I plan to have a team meeting with the boys tonight after practice but first, school. Now school has always been okay forme, I’m not the smartest guy in the room but I’m also not some dumb jock. I do the work and apply myself. My mom always told me football could betaken from me with one injury, so I need to focus on school and be educated with a plan B. I chose to get a degree in communications, so it leaves the door open for me when my time on the field comes to an end. Carter is in sports finance, so we don’t have a lot of courses together, but quite a few of my teammates are in my classes so it’s always a positive to have study groups on our road trips while sitting on buses or planes.  \nCarter and I have an off-campus apartment that we just moved into this year.
