SJRCS will be administering the HSPT to 8th graders on December 4 , 2024. The HSPT is a standardized, timed test required of every 8th grader applying to attend a Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. It contains five sections that measure verbal ability, quantitative ability, reading comprehension, mathematics, and components of written language. The questions are designed to test students at their curriculum level. This assessment tool is used by high schools for admissions, scholarship selection, and course placement. Each highschool has its own guidelines for evaluating applicants for admission, including performance on the HSPT. Students should contact the admissions department at their schools of choice with questions regarding the admissions process.  \nIf your child is interested in attending a Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore , please register here: HSPT Registration. Registration is $45 and should be paid online. When registering, please be sure to scroll down to “Test Dates and Locations – Elementary Schools”. Right below, there is a check box to “authorize the release of my child’s school records.” Find St. John Regional and click“Register Student” and follow the prompts.  \nWhen registering, you will be asked to select which schools you would like your child’s results sent to. In addition to three Archdiocese of Baltimore (AOB) schools, families will now be able to select up to two Archdiocese of Washington (ADW) high schools to receive results. Each ADW selection will cost an additional $10 on top of the $45 registration fee.  \nStudents requesting testing accommodations must submit required documentation by November 22, 2024 on the registration platform. Even if your child has an accommodation plan in place at SJRCS, documentation must be submitted at the time of registration. Documentation may not date earlier than the student’s 5th grade year.  \nIf your child will not be taking the HSPT, it is expected that he or she will be in attendance that day.
