This also occurs at the end of 6th grade. More information will be shared later this spring. \nIf you are interested in math acceleration, please choose Honors PreAlgebra when requesting courses. \n2023-2024 GRADE LEVEL \nTelescope Math \nTelescope Math \nThis course integrates strategies that foster the development of conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and contextual application of mathematics. Students experience a combination of direct and student discovery-based instruction. This approach opens doors to abstract thought, reasoning and inquiry as students persevere to answer the essential questions that drive instruction. By blending math concepts from Math 6 and Prealgebra into one year, students who successfully complete this course are placed in Honors Algebra in 7th grade. A placement process will determine eligibility. \nKey Scholars Social Studies","cbCaimRqnW9M7jbF","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimRqnW9M7jbF","pdf",2024776,"English","# Agenda\n## Math Pathways/Courses\n## Key Scholars Social Studies\n## Advanced Core Courses\n## Additional Opportunities\n# Grade Level Placement\n## Math Pathways\n## Above-Grade/Accelerated Level\n## Incoming 6th Graders","[{\"question\":\"What topics are included in the Academic Extensions agenda for 2023-2024?\",\"answer\":\"The agenda includes Math Pathways/Courses, Key Scholars Social Studies, Advanced Core Courses, and Additional Opportunities.\"},{\"question\":\"Which math courses are listed for on-grade level and above-grade/accelerated options?\",\"answer\":\"On-grade options include Math 5, Math 6, PreAlgebra 7, and Algebra/Geometry pathways; accelerated options include Mosaic 5, Honors PreAlgebra 6 (or Telescope Math), Honors Algebra 7, and higher honors and AP courses.\"},{\"question\":\"How do incoming 6th graders qualify for honors or accelerated placement?\",\"answer\":\"The document states incoming students are placed based on course completion and eligibility, and EPS 5th graders not currently in Mosaic take a district math assessment in May to determine placement.\"}]","6th Grade Academic Extension - 2023-2024 Academic Extensions - Alison Miller | PDF",1790754969]
