It explains how examiners award marks for specific question parts, including SQL queries, iteration and selection constructs, and logical reasoning with AND/NOT and OR/NOT gates. Guidance covers acceptance of alternatives, spelling and formatting requirements, treatment of unexpected but correct approaches, and annotation meanings used during marking.","GCSE (9-1) \nComputer science \nUnit J276/02: Algorithms and programming General Certificate of Secondary Education \nMark Scheme for June 2018 \nOCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA) is a leading UK awarding body, providing a wide range of qualifications to meet the needs of candidates of all ages and abilities. OCR qualifications include AS/A Levels, Diplomas, GCSEs, Cambridge Nationals, Cambridge Technicals , Functional Skills, Key Skills, Entry Level qualifications, NVQs and vocational qualifications in areas such as IT, business, languages, teaching/training, administration and secretarial skills. \nIt is also responsible for developing new specifications to meet national requirements and the needs of students and teachers. OCR is a not-for-profit organisation; any surplus made is invested back into the establishment to help towards the development of qualifications and support, which keep pace with the changing needs of today’s society. \nThis mark scheme is published as an aid to teachers and students, to indicate the requirements of the examination. It shows the basis on which marks were awarded by examiners. It does not indicate the details of the discussions which took place at an examiners’meeting before marking commenced. \nAll examiners are instructed that alternative correct answers and unexpected approaches in candidates’ scripts must be given marks that fairly reflect the relevant knowledge and skills demonstrated. \nMark schemes should be read in conjunction with the published question papers and the report on the examination. \n© OCR 2018 \nAnnotations \n\n| Annotation | Meaning |\n| --- | --- |\n| | Blank page |\n| | Highlight |\n| | Off page comment |\n| | Omission mark |\n| | Benefit of doubt |\n| | Cross |\n| | Follow through |\n| | Not answered question |\n| | Benefit of doubt not given |\n| | Repeat |\n| | Slash |\n| | Tick |\n| | Too vague |\n| | Zero (big) |\n| | Noted but no credit given |\n\n\n| Question | | | Answer | Mark | Guidance |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| 1 | (a) | | 1 mark per bullet, max 3\u003Cbr>􀁸 String\u003Cbr>􀁸 Integer / Int\u003Cbr>􀁸 Boolean | 3 | Accept text / varchar for string.
