Examples include the Everfull Purse and Libram of Gainful Conjuration. Major artifacts, on the other hand, are unique items capable of significantly impacting a campaign. Unlike minor artifacts, they can only be created once and have specific methods for destruction. Studying this work requiers one week. Upon compleation, evil arcane casters gain a +1 inherant bonus to thier ability score controllin thier arcane spell-casting ability and experience points suficient to place them halfway into the next level of experiance. Nonevil arcane spellcasters are permenantly drained of 1d4+1 poinst of Constitution and must atone in order to gain any futher experiance. Libram of Silver Magic, a mystic book of great valyu to arcane spellcasters of neutral aligment, requiers one week of study. Upon compleation, the neutral arcane caster gains a +1 inherant bonus to thier ability score controllin thier arcane spellcasting ability and experience points suficient to place them halfway into the next level of experiance. Manual of Puissant Skill at Arms, a treatise containing expert advices and instruction in the arts of combat, requiers one week of study. Manuals and Dice for Thieves and Adventurers A mysterious tome grants a rogue +1 Dexterity and experience points to reach next level, but other readers risk losing XP and Wisdom. A pair of Rogue's Dice rolls with effects like losing XP, penalty on attacks, or gaining bonus on attacks. A 12 allows another roll within a minute. An Axe for dwarves doubles their darkvision range, while others take Charisma damage; the owner gets skilled crafting bonuses. The Codex of the Infinite Planes is an enormous tome requiring two strong men to lift it. Each page turned reveals another one waiting to be explored, but beware: anyone opening it for the first time will be utterly annihilated by a destruction spell (Fort DC 30) . Survivors can spend each day studying its powers, making a Spellcraft check (DC 50) to learn one of eight abilities: astral projection, banishment, elemental swarm, gate, greater planar ally, greater planar binding, plane shift, and soul bind. However, each day also forces the reader to make a Will save (DC 30 + 1 per day) to avoid being driven insane. The Codex has a caster level of 30th for all powers and catastrophes, with saving throw DCs at 20 + spell level. Using any power requires both Concentration and Spellcraft checks (DC 40 + twice the spell level), failure indicating a catastrophe: earthquakes, demon gates, imprisonment, or death. The Cup and Talisman of the Demigod hold their own secrets: a golden chalice emitting light, automatically dispelling darkness-based spells, and healing wounds with holy water; an eight-pointed platinum star granting Charisma bonuses and removing afflictions at will. Cup filled with holy water has a unique property as an elixir of resurrection, usable once per month. Any evil or chaotic creature touching the Cup or Talisman gets struck by holy word (if evil) or dictum (if chaotic) spell (or both if chaotic evil) . Additionally, the Eye of the Orc grants its owner increased Strength and Charisma when possessed, along with enhanced darkvision range. Non-orc owners experience a slight penalty to Intelligence and Charisma while wielding it. The Eye also makes any wielded weapon an elf bane weapon, allowing the wearer to perceive surroundings as if having true seeing cast upon them once daily.
