As we look forward to the upcoming 2024–2025 school year, we wanted to take the opportunity to communicate important information about our student Chromebook/iPad/device program.  \nWe understand the vital role technology plays in our curriculum and we want to ensure all our students have access to the resources they need to succeed. With this in mind, every student in our district has been provided a device to support their learning.  \nAs in last school year, we are offering a device insurance option. The cost for this insurance is $35 per student. This will cover either the cost of a brand new device or two repairs, should any damage occur during the school year. In the event that insurance has been exhausted, you will be given the option of a one-time buyback insurance within 10 days for $50. Insurance is due no later than Friday, September 27, 2024 (end of school day) . Make checks payable to Southern Fulton School District(SFSD) .  \nWe wanted to send this out now to give families ample time to plan accordingly. This policy is intended to alleviate potential financial strain and ensure a seamless transition should a device become unusable. Unlike last year, the repairs will be performed in-house and we will not be using a third-party repair company as that did not go as promised.  \nHowever, it's important to note that the purchase of this insurance is optional. If families decide not to purchase insurance, repairs for damaged devices will still be performed as these devices are crucial for our curriculum. The cost of these repairs, however, will fall under the responsibility of the respective family.  \nIf the repair costs are not paid within 60 days, the matter will be referred to the district justice for judgment. There be no exceptions for non-insured families. We understand that these circumstances can be challenging and would prefer to avoid this course of action whenever possible. As such, we strongly recommend considering the device insurance option.  \nWe hope this information provides clarity about our device program and the options available to your family.
