15 |\n| --- |\n| |\n| 2 |\n\nFROM THE PRINCIPAL  \nLorne P-12 College has always been a very successful VCE and Vocational Major (previously VCAL) provider and one where small class sizesand high-quality learning opportunities gives students the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability.  \nThree times in the last sixteen years the College has been ranked in the top ten regional schools based on its VCE results.  \nThe effectiveness of the VCE program and the high level of support for students through our Pathways Program can also be seen by considering the postschool destinations of our exit students.  \nBetween the years 2009 and 2023 inclusive, 127 students have applied for tertiary positions; of those 117 have been successful and 89 students gained their first preference.  \nEntry into selected tertiary institutions during this  \nperiod was as follows: University of Melbourne 13 students, Monash University 9, RMIT 16, Deakin University 40, Federation University 4, Latrobe University 5, and 28 at other institutions.  \nCarly Stafford—Principal  \nStudents of the College have entered a wide variety of employment fields following tertiary study including law, geology, medicine, education, genetic engineering, aviation, software development, environmental engineering, nursing and design, to name a few.  \nLorne P-12 College has also been a highly successful Vocational Major (VCAL) provider. During the past thirteen years, the College has been nominated seven times as an“exemplar” provider school for VCAL, meaning it was cited as an example of excellence in its provision of VCAL programs. During the past twelve years our vocational program has been awarded ten major state awards, making us the highest awarded school delivering vocational education in Victoria, with the most recent award received in 2022. The VCAL program has now been replaced statewide by the new VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) and Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning.  \nThe College has an outstanding record in placement of school-based apprentices (SBATs), working with Westvic Group Training and Headstart to enable students to complete Year 12 and commence an apprenticeship at the same time. Since 2009 the following apprenticeships/traineeships have been undertaken by our students: Building-12 students, Plumbing-8, Electrical -7, Tourism-1, Early Childhood-1, Hospitality-6, Retail -3, Horticulture-1, Hairdressing-1, Tiling-1, Motor Mechanic-2, Civil Construction-1, and Business-2, a total of 46 over the past fifteen years.  \n3  \n\n| 2025 YEAR 11 & 12 PATHWAYS\u003Cbr>|\n| --- |\n| |\n| 4 |\n\n\n| VCE VOCATIONAL MAJOR (VCE VM)\u003Cbr>From 2023, the VCE Vocational Major stream within the VCE has replaced the existing VCAL at the Intermediate and Senior levels.\u003Cbr>The VCE Vocational Major (VM) is a vocational and applied learning program within the VCE designed to be completed over a minimum of two years.
