NAP sample assessments test students’ skills and understanding in science literacy, civics and citizenship, and ICT literacy. Only selected classes of students in Years 6 and 10 participate in these assessments, which are held on a rolling 3-yearly cycle. \nThe NAP–ICT Literacy (NAP–ICTL) assessment measures students’ knowledge and understanding related to ICT and digital literacy. For the purposes of the NAP, ICT literacy is defined as the ability to use ICT appropriately and safely to: \n• access, manage and evaluate information \n• develop new understandings \n• apply computational, design and systems thinking to create solutions \n• communicate and collaborate with others \n• engage productively with emerging and future technologies. \nNAP–ICTL assessments have been held every 3 years since 2005. Before the main study assessment is conducted, a field trial to evaluate potential modules for the main assessment is required. \nWhy is the NAP–ICTL assessment undertaken? \nThe purpose of the assessment is: \n• to inform schools, education ministers and the community about levels of achievement in ICT education among Year 6 and Year 10 students across Australia \n• to support improvement in teaching and learning programs. \nThe study also assesses student achievement against recognised goals and standards, and helps drive improvements in student outcomes. \nHow is the NAP–ICTL field trial run? \nThe Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) develops the sample tests in consultation with curriculum specialists, education authorities, testing authorities and practising teachers in each state and territory. The NAP–ICTL field trial will be administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) on behalf of ACARA. The tests are delivered to students over an online platform. \nThe field trial will be held from Wednesday 16 October to Tuesday 29 October 2024. \nAll components will be administered on the same day with a short break between the modules to allow the students to stretch and refocus. The actual assessment time is 80 minutes, but schools should allow approximately 2 hours for the entire assessment process. \nHow are schools and students selected to participate in the field trial? \nAround 1,750 Year 6 and Year 10 students from approximately 70 government, Catholic and independent schools in metropolitan, rural and remote locations will participate in the field trial. \nACARA’s contractor, ACER, will ask participating schools to supply class lists for the relevant school year (Year 6 or Year 10) . From these, ACER will select approximately 25 students from each participating year at each school. \nHow are the tests constructed? \nThe NAP–ICTL assessment consists of tasks that enable students to show achievement at many levels. Students will be presented with a range of tasks to complete using purpose-built software applications. The tasks have been designed to reflect students’ typical real-world use of ICT. Students have an opportunity to complete practice questions before progressing to the online assessment. \nThe NAP–ICT Literacy assessment consists of an introductory tutorial (10 minutes), 4 assessment modules (20 minutes each) and a student questionnaire (15 minutes) . \n2025 National Assessment Program | Information for schools \nActivity \nDescription \n\n| Practice questions (10 minutes) | Students complete the tutorial to familiarise themse","cbCaisGMlSqJZsLi","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaisGMlSqJZsLi","pdf",114643,"English","# NAP–ICTL assessment overview\n## What is the NAP–ICTL assessment?\n## Why is the NAP–ICTL assessment undertaken?\n# Field trial administration\n## How is the NAP–ICTL field trial run?\n## When is the field trial held?\n## How are schools and students selected?\n# Assessment structure\n## How are the tests constructed?\n## Practice questions and assessment modules\n## How will the field trial assessment be conducted?\n# Outcomes and support\n## What are the outcomes?\n## Further information","[{\"question\":\"What is the NAP–ICTL assessment measuring for Year 6 and Year 10 students?\",\"answer\":\"NAP–ICTL measures students’ knowledge and understanding related to ICT and digital literacy, including safe and appropriate use, managing information, creating solutions, and productive engagement with emerging technologies.\"},{\"question\":\"How long is the NAP–ICTL field trial assessment and what does it include?\",\"answer\":\"The assessment session totals 80 minutes.
