This is not a graduation requirement, but instead an opportunity to meet the postsecondary civic literacy requirement as outlined in s. 1007. 25(5)(b), F.S., which states: Beginning with students initially entering a Florida College System institution or state university in the 2021-2022 school year and thereafter, each student must demonstrate competency in civic literacy by achieving a passing score on an assessment and by successfully completing a civic literacy course. For those students who pass the FCLE, they will be exempt from this requirement during their postsecondary career. \nThere are two administration dates for the FCLE during the 2025-2026 assessment period: \n• Fall-November 3-December 19, 2025 \no Your zoned school district selects the exact testing dates within the testing window. \n• Spring-March 30-May 29, 2026 \no Your zoned school district selects the exact testing dates within the testing window. \nClick here to view the statewide assessment schedule on the Florida Department of Education’s (FDOE) website. \nThe FCLE will consist of one 160-minute session, with a break half-way through.
