and Actions To BeCounted  \n1701 Examiners May Not Testify asPatent Experts  \nInasmuch as publc policy does not permit Exam-iners to decide,as judges in the Patent Offlce,ques-tions upon which they have been retained to giveopinions as expert witnesses in patent cases in thecourts,every Examiner who shall testify as an ex-pert in a patent case pending in any court will bedismissed,unless he shall have so testified involun-tarily,upon compulsion by competent judicial au-thority,and without retainer or preparation.(Notice of March 6,1880.)  \nThe above material forms the body of theGazette;but asthis is the officialjournalrelatingto patents and trade-marks,the first few pagesof the Gazette are devoted to other matters,suchas:notices to parties the Office has been unableto reach by mail,disclaimers,certain adversedecisions in interferences,a statement of thecondition of work in the Patent Office,changesin Rules,disbarment of attorneys,and selecteddecisions of the Board Restrictions on Examiners Re-signing From the Office  \nEatract from Rule 841,Registration of Attorney andAgents.(g)Former ezaminers.No person who hasserved in the examining corps of the Patent Office willbe registered after termination of his services,nor,ifregistered before such service,be reinstated,unless heundertakes(1)not to prosecute or aid in any mannerin the prosecution of any application pending in anyexamining division in which he served,on the date heleft said division;and(2)not to prepare or prosecutenor to assist in any manner in the preparation or prose-cution of any applieation of another filed within twoyears after the date he left suchdivision,and assignedto such division,without the specifie authorization ofthe Commissioner,Associated and related classes inother divisions
