By God’s power, Peter restored her to life. Then, Peter stayed in Joppa many days living with a leatherworker named Simon.  \nAt the city of Caesarea, there was an army officer named Cornelius. He and his family worshiped God, but they were not Jews.  \nOne day an angel appeared to Cornelius and said,“Cornelius, God heard your prayers. Now send men to Joppa to get a man named Peter. He is staying with Simon the leatherworker.”Immediately, Cornelius obeyed.  \nAbout noon the next day, Peter went to pray on the flat roof of Simon’s house. He saw this vision: Something like a large sheet was lowered to earth by its four corners. Inside the sheet were many animals, birds, and reptiles.  \nA voice said to him,“Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”But Peter said,“Lord, I have never eaten anything that is unacceptable or unclean according to the Jewish Law.”  \nAgain, the voice said,“Do not call anything unacceptable or unclean that God has made acceptable.” This vision happened three times.
