A young girl named Abishag cared for him.  \n1 Kings 1:1-4  \nAfter David’s son Absalom died, David’s oldest living son was Adonijah. Adonijah boasted,“Now I will be king!” So he bought chariots and hired fifty men to run ahead of the chariots wherever he went.  \n1 Kings 1:5-6  \nAdonijah convinced Abiathar the priest and Joab, King David’s army commander, to help him become king. Then Adonijah offered sacrifices and held a feast. He invited all his brothers except Solomon to the celebration.  \n1 Kings 1:7, 9-10  \nNathan the prophet heard about this and warned Bathsheba. He said,“Adonijah has made himself king, and King David does not know. You must tell David immediately, or Adonijah will kill both you and your son Solomon.”  \n1 Kings 1:11-13  \nSo Bathsheba went to the king. She reported everything Adonijah had done. King David answered,“Today I will keep my promise to you. Your son Solomon will be king after me.”  \n1 Kings 1:15-19, 30  \nSo David commanded Nathan and Zadok the priest, saying,“Put Solomon on my own mule, and take him and my officials to the meeting place at Gihon Spring.
