Bach’s Magnificat, BWV 243 was composed in 1723, and it was his first major liturgical composition on a Latin text. The text comes from the Gospel of Luke (1:46-55), in which Mary expresses joy and praise to God after being told that she will give birth to the Son of God.“Quia Respexit” is the third movement of the Magnificat. The text for this aria specifically comes from Luke 1:48 . In this aria, the singer and accompaniment trade melodic ideas back and forth in a beautiful duet. \nQuia respexit humilitatem ancillae suae; Ecce enim ex hoc Beatam me dicent \nFor he has regarded the humility of his servant; For behold, from this They shall call me blessed \nNon t’amo più \nSir Francesco Paolo Tosti was a Romantic-era Italian composer known for his expressive Italian art songs. He wrote very well for the voice, and gave room for those performing his works to add their own artistic interpretations and embellishments.“Non t’amo più”(I don’t love you anymore) was composed by Tosti in 1884, and is a setting of a text by Carmelo Errico. This piece is sung from the perspective of someone who has fallen out of love, and the singer emotionally recounts the highs and lows of their past relationship to their former lover. \nDo you still remember the day we met, Do you still remember the promises you made? Madly in love I followed you, \nWe loved each other, \nAnd next toyou I dreamt, madly in love. \nI dreamt of caresses and kisses \nDissolving into heaven: \nBut your words were false, Because your soul is made of ice. \nDo you still remember it? \nNow my faith, the immense desire, My dream of love, you are no longer: \nI do not look foryour kisses, I don't think about you; I dream of another perfection, I don't love you anymore. \nIn those days we passed together, I spread your path with flowers: \nYou were the single hope of my heart; You were the one thought in my mind. You saw me beg, grow pale, \nYou saw me weeping before you: I, just to satisfy your desire, \nWould have given my blood and my faith. \nQual fiamma avea nel quardo…Stridono","cbCaieTknRG9oH39","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaieTknRG9oH39","pdf",445219,15,"English","# Performance program\n## Listed works and composers\n## Program notes and text excerpts","[{\"question\":\"Which Bach work and which aria are featured in the program?\",\"answer\":\"The program includes Bach’s Magnificat in D major, BWV 243, featuring the aria “Quia Respexit” as a highlighted movement.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the program say about the origin of the text for “Quia Respexit”?\",\"answer\":\"The notes state that the text comes from the Gospel of Luke (1:46-55), where Mary expresses joy and praise, and that “Quia Respexit” is the third movement of the Magnificat.\"},{\"question\":\"What background does the program provide for Tosti’s “Non t’amo più”?\",\"answer\":\"It describes Francesco Paolo Tosti as a Romantic-era Italian composer and explains that “Non t’amo più” (1884) reflects the perspective of someone no longer in love, recounting highs and lows of a past relationship.\"}]","11.16_Ava-Knight-Senior-Recital-Program | PDF",1792677386,38]
