Set against centuries of foreign domination following the Babylonian exile and the long wait for the Messiah, the narrative highlights hope carried by prophetic promises. The account focuses on the angel’s appearance and Zechariah’s moment of divine intervention.","100 An Angel Appears to Zechariah \nLuke 1:5-25, 57-80 \nEnglish Spiritual \n100 An Angel Appears to Zechariah \nEnglish \n© 2020 Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. This period was a time of foreign domination of Israel, ending with the conquest of the expanding Roman Empire. \nThe Jews suffered greatly from the succession of foreign rulers – many of whom tried to eradicate Jewish customs and beliefs. \nThe promise of deliverance by the Messiah, from writings of the prophets of old, kept hope alive among the enslaved Jewish people. \nWhen King Herod ruled the province of Judea, there was a Jewish priest named Zechariah. He and his wife Elizabeth faithfully obeyed everything God commanded. \nBut they had no children, because Elizabeth was unable to become pregnant. And now she and her husband were very old.","cbCaipKZaMMmC74P","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipKZaMMmC74P","pdf",3430531,2,1,29,"English","en",105,"# Zechariah and Elizabeth’s Faith\n## Context of the Messiah’s Long Wait\n## Zechariah’s Service and Elizabeth’s Barrenness\n## Hope Through Prophetic Promises","[{\"question\":\"Who were Zechariah and Elizabeth in this story?\",\"answer\":\"Zechariah was a Jewish priest in Judea, and Elizabeth was his wife.
