Went the alarm. Followed by a tune of Happy Anniversary. Captain Levi Therris opened his eyes and looked at the clock. He let out asmile when he read the message displayed on the digital screen.‘Happy 10 years of service Cpt. Levi Therris. From the United Galactic Forces and Fleet Admiral Thompson.’ Levi rubbed his eyes. \"It's been 10 years already?\" He patted the bed that he lay in. \"Ten years with this ship and ten years in this bed. It's great to be a captain.\" He turned the alarm off and got out of the bed. He went over to the replicator and picked up the freshly generated medal. \"I'm glad they didn't make me wait until this mission was over to give me my ten years service medal.\" He examined the silver medal on a green ribbon. On the face was a big number 10 and a starship in the  \nbackground. There was a sliver bar on the top that said HMSS Blackstar. Feelings of joy and pride warmed his heart. He loved his job, and this was a great honour to be recognized for doing it for so long.  \nHe placed the medal down next to his neatly laid out uniform. He pressed a few digital buttons on the replicator and made himself a warm milkshake. He hated coffee and rarely had time to eat a full meal. So he drank a self-designed concoction, made to taste like green tea with milk with added vitamins and thickeners. Warmed up and served like a latte, it was one of his favorite drinks. He scanned around the room. His pregnant wife Sandy wasn’t in the room. She must have gone for a walk, he assumed.  \nHe had to get dressed and relieve the night shift acting Captain of his duty. He decided he was going to wear his dress uniform today. It’s a special day, this calls for a special uniform. As a captain he could wear just about anything he liked if it was regulation but mostly stuck to the standard uniform. With today being his 10th anniversary, a moment he had been looking forward to for a long time, it only seemed like the right thing to do. He took his dress uniform out of the closet and began to put it on. He picked up the new medal and pinned it on the jacket with his many others. Once his uniform was on, he looked at himself in the full-length mirror he had positioned on the wall facing the bed. He combed his short golden blond hair and full matching beard. He examined his uniform, making sure it was all straight and proper.  \n“There we go. The new medal blends in well with the rest of them. I like it.”  \nAs he finished putting his boots on he looked around the room.\"Hmm Sandy is not back yet. I wonder what is taking her so long?\"  \nLt. Sandy Munroe Therris was his wife. She was pregnant with their son and nearing the end of the pregnancy, and she was having trouble sleeping. It was common for her to get up early in the morning and go for a walk around the ship. They had been married a few short years and this was their first child together.  \nLevi was looking forward to becoming a father.
