Phonics Skill: CVC Words
1-2-3 SPELL IT! is meant to be more of a challenge for those readers
and spellers who are ready to take it to the next level!
To Prep:
• Print off one game board for two players to share.
• Print off letter cards* for the game of your choice AND the Wild Cards (p. 14) . To Play: (played similarly to Uno)
card goes in 3rd space on game board.
• Deal each player 7 cards.
• Players hold their 7 cards in their hand so they (but no one else) can see them. Extra cards are placed facedown in a pile.
• Decide who goes first.
• Player one starts the game by looking at the cards in his own hand to see if he can build another REAL word on the gameboard (remembering to pay attention to the number at the bottom right-hand corner of each card) . If he is able to, he places his card down on the game board, reads the real word he made, and his turn is over (for example, he could turn name in into
same) .
• If the player is not able to build another REAL word, he draws a card from the pile. If he draws a card that he can play, he does so and his turn is over.
• If a player draws a Wild Card at any time, he can make that card any letter he wants (consonant, blend, digraph, or vowel pattern to help him create a real word) . The player needs to state what letter(s) his Wild Card represents.
• Play continues in this manner, with players taking turns, until one player runs out of cards.
Variation:
Terms of Use: This free printable was created for you to use at home with your child/students or with multiple children in a classroom setting. Please do not sell, host, reproduce, giveaway, or store on any other site (including a blog, Facebook, 4Shared, Dropbox, etc.) . Thank you!
• If more than 2 players want to play, print off more copies of the letter cards and Wild Cards.
©2013 All Rights Reserved.

| short vowel game board
1-2-3 SPELL IT!
c
a
t | | |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1
©2013 All Rights Reserved. | 2 | |

\\#1 Cards Beginning Single Consonants Cards

| b
1 | b
1 | c
1 | c
1 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| d
1 | d
1 | f
1 | g
1 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
\\#1 Cards Beginning Single Consonants Cards

| h
1 | j
1 | k
1 | l
1 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| m
1 | m
1 | n
1 | n
1 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
\\#1 Cards Beginning Single Consonants Cards

| p
1 | p
1 | r
1 | r
1 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| s
1 | s
1 | t
1 | t
1 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
Beginning Single Consonants Cards \\#1 Cards
Single Vowel Cards \\#2 Cards

| v
1 | w
1 | y
1 | z
1 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| u
2 | u
2 | u
2 | u
2 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
\\#2 Cards Single Vowel Cards

| a
2 | a
2 | a
2 | a
2 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| a
2 | a
2 | e
2 | e
2 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
\\#2 Cards Single Vowel Cards

| e
2 | e
2 | e
2 | i
2 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| i
2 | i
2 | i
2 | i
2 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
\\#2 Cards Single Vowel Cards

| i
2 | o
2 | o
2 | o
2 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| o
2 | o
2 | o
2 | u
2 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
\\#3 Cards Ending Single Consonant Cards

| b
3 | b
3 | b
3 | d
3 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| d
3 | d
3 | d
3 | g
3 |

©2013 All Rights Reserved.
[www.thisreadingmama.com](www.thisreadingmama.com)","cbCaivyKnz38Cwc9","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivyKnz38Cwc9","pdf",207893,14,"English","# To Prep
# To Play
## Rules and Turn Taking
## Wild Card Use
# Variation
# Terms of Use
# Card Sets","[{"question":"How do players set up the 1-2-3 SPELL IT!
